VW Tiguan gets a facelift

Volkswagen has dropped the first official photos of its refreshed Tiguan ahead of its world premiere at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The german automaker did not release any information on the revised compact SUV except that the base price of the new model in Germany remains the same as before for the entry-level Trend variant.

The company added that it accelerated the presentation and start of advance sales of the technically and visually refined Tiguan because the sustained high demand for the previous model has resulted in it being sold out. The exterior revisions have shades of the new VW design language seen across the Golf, Passat and Jetta. There's a new face up front with a wider but more plain grille flanked by redesigned headlamps incorporating LED daytime running lights. The rear gets a restyled bumper and tail lamps have been squared off like the rest of its family members. The new design language from VW is getting boring, especially when the Koreans are getting more adventurous. Just compare the soon-to-arrive Passat and the new Kia Optima K5 and you will get what I mean.

Going on to the interior, the only visible change appears to be the newly designed steering wheel. YAWN…..

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
