Honda announces the Fit/Jazz Shuttle

Honda has just announced a larger Fit a.k.a Jazz hatchback called the Fit Shuttle after brochure pictures of it were leaked. Somehow there is a demand for a more practical version of this car, which in my opinion is already a very practical car indeed. How much more practical can the Fit Shuttle be? Well, imagine a Fit/Jazz with a bigger hatch/rear load space and thatís about it as it still is a 4/5 seater.

With no sign of a third row of seats this means that the Shuttle isnít meant to be classified as a proper people carrier (MPV) but more of a station wagon. This means that you can pack more stuff when youíre on that IKEA furniture run.

On sale over in Japan sometime this March 2011, the Fit Shuttle will come with the hatchbackís 1.5liter i-VTEC engine as well as a hybrid variant that will come with a 1.3liter engine and a poofy sounding 10kw electric motor and a ton of batteries that is needed to store the energy that powers the electric motor.

Whatever the case, I am sure that Honda will sell quite a lot of units as there is a market for vehicles that have extra load carrying space that actually isnít needed 90% of the time. This Fit Shuttle also reminds me when the Civic was actually as small as the Fit and back then (see the photo above Ė 1984 Civic Shuttle), Honda also had a Civic Shuttle. If they made a Civic Shuttle these days itíll be huge....only slightly smaller than a space shuttle as cars seem to get larger and larger with every passing moment. I suppose this is progress, supposed progress.

Seems like Honda is dropping the Airwave Model name.

The current airwaves looks better overall. There are some design cues from the airwaves though, like the wrap-around glass for the rear hatch area and the kinked c pillar

I think airwave was more from "Honda City", not really Fit/Jazz. This is more like Fabia Combi or i30 wagon.

I like hybrids one specially honda jazz, Mercedes c class, Nissan , Hyundai etc . This cars are made for special purpose and will contribute to environment also.

My personal opinion was that the Airwave was based on the previous generation Fit/City (or Fit Aria as it is called in Japan).

Proton neutron may be right...Honda may be dropping the Airwave name with this new generation of Fit wagon.
