A Singapore themed supercar finally

You might have heard of the Ferrari 599 China Limited Edition and the Porsche Panamera 4S Exclusive Middle East Edition. Now, Singapore has our very own limited edition supercar in the form of the Lamborghini Gallardo Singapore Limited Edition. Only 10 units of this special edition models will be produced to commemorate Lamborghini’s 10th anniversary in the Lion City.

The Singapore-themed Gallardo was created in partnership between the factory and its Singapore importer after three months of discussion. Available in white or black, the Singapore Limited Edition wears a set of red side stripes accented by a badge featuring the Merlion. The external modification is rather subtle. How about a paintwork mimicking the Merlion’s scales instead ? Just refer to the porcelain inspired paintwork on the Ferrari 599 China Edition. Hope this is some food for thought for Mr Melvin Goh, if he intends to do a National Day edition!!

Powering the Gallardo is a 5.2 litre V10 engine which is capable of churning out 550 hp and 540 Nm of torque. The bull charges to 100km/hr in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 320km/hr. Lamborghini Singapore pledged to donate S$20,000 from the sale of each limited edition unit to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) for less fortunate students.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.

Wouldn't that decak devalue the car?

I think its kind of honouring for 'Automobili Lamborghini' to allow Singapore to have our own Limited edition Lamborghini's.

It took them 3 months of discussions to add a set of red side stripes and badge?

Well, now that the 3months are over.. at least the car is fast... can drive from one traffic light to the next in 4 seconds.

Nothing special... and it looks like Lamborghini just take us out of their to-do list with some stupid decals that doesn't make the car relate to anything about Singapore. Its a far cry from the Ferrari 599 China Edition. Better off without it as it just made us feel we are not important.
