Poor interior ergonomics in new SBS bus

I took bus no. 8 home from work on a Thursday evening as I did not drive to work. Upon boarding the bus, I realized that it was a brand new bus as the interior layout of the seat was different from the usual bus no. 8 that I took in the past. First impression was positive, that is until I took up a seat.

I sat down on a window seat and realized that something was blocking my feet. I looked down and saw this grey box, which is part of the bus interior fixture. I guess it could house some electronic components. I had to shift my bottom sideways so that I could place both of my feet on the ground. If not, my left foot would have to be placed on top of the box, which is really uncomfortable. It doesn’t help that the top of the box was sloping. Luckily, the bus was not crowded and the seat to my right was empty, and therefore I could shift my bottom to the right without affecting another passenger.

I hope that SBS could look into the issue and work with the bus manufacturer to see if the fixture can be relocated. The number of seats in the new buses has been reduced as compared to the older versions. Please make sure that the available seats are comfortable at least.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.

@ Doosan,

Bro, Its still not an excuse for poor design. Our govt has the money to spend on ergonomics for bus's just like the Nordic countries do.
