And so, depsite a setback earlier this year, Tesla has decided to try again in the Singapore market.
This time, it has the support and backing of a local electric vehicle specialist, EV Hub, and the company held a media event to announce the launch of FSG Mobility Concepts, which will be the official retailer for Tesla in Singapore.
Besides the Tesla, FSG are also retailing the YikeBike, which is a nifty gadget that has been dubbed as the world’s lightest foldable electric bike. The lightweight 10kg contraption can be folded and unfolded in just 20 seconds, and seems rather useful for short trips, like to and from the train station or bus stop. Certainly something that might fit very well in urban Singapore.
The main highlight of course, was the Tesla Roadster. The media were given test rides around Jalan Kilang Barat, which is the location of FSG's showroom, and most of the guests emerged from the car impressed.
From a performance standpoint, the Tesla provided near instantaneous acceleration. Of couse, we had a limited test route, and so could not try out the car's full performance, but it was enough for us to experience the capabilities of the electric-powered sports car.
The event was also a fairly informative affair, as the staff of EV Hub took us around a tour of their facilities, and explained the workings of electric-propelled cars, as well as the process they take to convert and maintain such cars in their workshop. We most certainly learnt a lot about their operations, and gleaned a much better understanding about this new technology.
Having experienced what the Tesla Roadster could potentially be capable of, we can't wait to have a go ourselves. Keep your eyes on the pages of sgCarMart, as we will be featuring even more of this stunning new car in the near future.
