As far as I know, the existing BMW 318i carries a de-tuned version of the 2.0 litre inline-4 found in the 320i. I did a check on sgcarmart.com to verify my understanding. Even if the article is referring to the new F30, it is not correct too as the petrol options available at launch are the 328i and 335i which carries a 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre turbocharged engine respectively. A 1.6 litre turbocharged 318i is expected to be launched at a later date but at this moment, it is not available yet.
BMW fans who are heading to Performance Motors to get a 1.6L BMW 318i may be disappointed. Your wish may come true next year, but not now. Who knows, COE may have soften by then, if the European debt crisis deepens.
