Over the past several weeks, we have seen numerous leaked images of the purportedly production ready of Toyota’s upcoming sports coupe, the FT-86. Some of the leaked images ranged from official-looking catalogs and even photoshopped images of the concept. Even the FT-86’s sibling, the Subaru BRZ was not spared. It also received some leaked images.

Whether these leaked images are real or not, we can only wait for official news release/s from Toyota and Subaru. Both Toyota and Subaru will unveil the FT-86 and BRZ at next month’s Tokyo Motor Show and only after that then we can know for sure whether these leaked images are for real or not.

In the meantime, Toyota has released an official video to tease us on how the FT-86 will look like in production form.

The video focuses on the FT-86’s development through every single stage. It shows how Toyota’s designers and engineers working diligently on the car’s development. From the designers’ rough sketches, choosing of wheels and their engineer’s work on the car’s engine.

The video also shows several young children drawing and playing with cars. This is probably Toyota’s way to project an image of the dreams of young children being fulfilled.

The only piece of news that Toyota is tight lipped about is the car’s new name. The number 86 is an obvious homage towards the famed Corolla AE86 and some have argued that Toyota will resurrect the Celica badge. Whatever the outcome is, we only have about a week to wait for the official release and I can’t wait to see what Toyota will surprise us with.
