Launched in Singapore around in Feb 2009, the present generation Kia Cerato Forte (as above) became the third best-selling car in Singapore in 2009 and 2010. It represents great value for money as it comes loaded with goodies such as cruise control, 6-speed automatic transmission and rear parking assist system in a compact sedan package.

The Forte has a clean and sharp design but let’s face it- it is starting to look aged when placed next to its bigger brother, the Optima or its cousin, the Hyundai Elantra. That's why, though the current Forte sedan has only been on the market since 2009, Kia is already planning on replacing it new year with a 2013 model and this could be our first look at it. The svelte-looking design borrows some of the dynamic approach of the Optima sedan with its steeply raked windshield and the new family grille.

Designed by Peter Schreyer, the new sedan is expected to be powered by a range of gasoline direct injected 1.6L and 2.0L lumps. The availability of a 1.6 T-GDI variant would be a bonus. Rumor has it that the concept version will make its debut at the Detroit Autoshow in a few weeks’ time. Stay tuned!

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.

Face it? It's starting to look aged?

I don't drive a Kia and I definitely don't think so.

I think the elantra front looks horrible.
