Despite the uncertain economic outlook, Audi is intending to recruit some 1200 specialists in the coming year. In addition, the company is planning to invest a massive € 13 billion, mainly in new products and technologies and in expending its sites from 2012 through 2016. About 60% of the investment budget has been identified for Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, which are within Germany. This investment will include property, plant and equipment.

Thomas Sigi, Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources at AUDI AG, said, "We are aiming to achieve strong growth on an international scale and boost our lightweight construction and electric mobility areas of expertise in particular. That is why we will be hiring even more people and are planning to appoint a further 1,200 experts next year." To further boost its manpower needs, Audi also offered permanent contracts to more than 400 temporary workers and the management has agreed to offer permanent contracts to apprentices, students from vocational training academies and participants of the “Study and Experience in Practice” program. I believe this program is similar to our industrial attachment program in NTU and NUS. In the meantime, Audi is coming up with programs to develop and grow its junior staff.

In 2012, automobile enthusiasts can look forward to several interesting new models from the Ingolstadt automaker. These include the tree-hugging A8 hybrid, the all-new A3 and the limited production R8 e-tron.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
