Renault has announced recently that they will reveal a new car within the first week of the New Year (2012). It could have been a new Megane or a new Clio. But what Renault really had in mind was a new minivan (or MPV) model from its Romanian subsidiary and it is known as the Dacia Lodgy.
It is the company’s fourth model in their line-up and it is also the company’s dedicated MPV model. According to Dacia, the model name Lodgy comes from the word lodge. It simply refers to the van’s main purpose which is to accommodate a family and its luggage.
If you were to look at the other Dacia models, you will notice that the Lodgy’s exterior appearance has a typical Dacia outlook, especially the front grille. The side windows look pretty much similar to its crossover SUV model, the Dacia Duster. It is fair to say that Dacia models share styling designs and cues.
No interior image was made available by the company but I’m guessing that the car will not feature any groundbreaking technology or styling features. We must take note that Dacia is considered as a low cost marque. Dacia did state that the Lodgy will sit seven people comfortably.
Another thing that was not revealed by Dacia is the engine that will be used in the Lodgy but some people have predicted that it will get one of Renault’s straight four engines. More details will be available when the company releases the model sometime in the second half of this year as a 2013 model.
