Anyway, I suppose Fiat wants to develop the 500 into a brand like the BMW Mini. This is actually a good move as you can see the Mini going from the normal supermini hatchback to the three door Clubman and to the very large un-Mini-like Mini Countryman. So a chubby and slightly awkward Ellezero could be a welcome addition to those who wants the 500 looks in something that can carry a lot more people and stuff.
What the chubby Ellezero will have is the Fiat TwinAir (2cylinder) Turbocharged engine with 84bhp, a 1.3liter turbodiesel engine with two sets of tune and a larger 1.4liter petrol engine with 99bhp. Hey, its a basic people carrier, not a Fiat 500 Abarth.
The Fiat Ellezero is expected to be launched at Geneva in March 2012 and sources confirmed that the Fiat Ellezero will be assembled at the Fiat’s Serbian plant for the moment.
I wonder whether the local Fiat dealer will bring it in. I believe that the Fiat Ellezero is better than the Qubo and Doblo on sale as these two vehicles are actually based on Fiat's small commercial vans and not one actually purpose built as a mini MPV. Of course, the Qubo looks a tad bit tougher looking. Maybe chubby is cute to some. Who knows.
