Rust is something we usually see on old or poorly maintained cars. It is the corrosion of iron and its alloy and usually associated with junk metal. When someone sees a rusted item, in their mind, it is not worth saving or keeping and that item would normally be discarded.
Car owners do not want to see rust on their car’s body. Rust and cars don’t mix well together; it just doesn’t look right. But one Swedish artist has done what car enthusiasts normally hate and that is to incorporate cars and rust together in a unique way.
The pictures you see here are works of car art done on rusted sheets of metal done by Swedish artist Bo Lundvang. The artist prepares a 100 cm x 50 cm sheet metal and it is wrapped in white vinyl. He would then cut out the desired design or image and then he removes the unwanted vinyl areas.
The next step is to leave the metal sheet out in the open and let nature do its work. Once the exposed areas have reached the appropriate level of corrosion, the metal sheet is coated with several layers of clear coat to prevent further deterioration.
Lundvang has created several art pieces based on all types of cars. From a classic 1969 Dodge Charger, up to modern day rides such as the McLaren MP4-12C and the Koenigsegg CCX. The art works are suitable for any décor; regardless whether for home, office or even a garage.
The artist did not list any price for a completed art work and if you are interested, you may visit his website and contact him through email.Just Rust website
