There are rumors that Citroen is preparing a model to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Golf R and Renaultsport Mégane RS. The guessing game is over. The French automaker has officially confirmed the revealing of the DS4 Racing Concept at March’s 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
It is a beautifully crafted concept. The rear door handles are nicely integrated on the window panels and the wheel arches lend an aggressive look. The styling is uniquely Citroen and you can’t mix it up with other brands even if the Citroen logo is removed.
Good looks are only half the story. If you think that Hyundai’s 1.6L T-GDI was impressive in squeezing out 208 bhp, Citroen has just upped the ante by fitting a 260 bhp 1.6L turbo on the DS4 Racing Concept. More interestingly, this engine gives out carbon dioxide at a rate of 155g/km, which is what a naturally-aspirated 1.6L lump used to produce.
The chassis has been lowered by 35mm and the track widened by 55mm at the front and 75mm at the rear. The braking system boasts four-piston callipers at the front together with special 380mm diameter discs. The concept is fitted with large 19-inch wheels and 235/40 tyres.
I can’t wait to see the live photos of the DS4 Racing Concept in a few weeks’ time.
