Lexus LF-LC concept, like Bengawan Solo pastries, might eventually make it to a production line. This is due to the overwhelming popularity that the dramatic concept received. It was honored with the ‘EyesOn Design award’ from a jury of leading designers at the North American International Auto Show a few months ago.
After the LF-LC’s debut at the recent Geneva Motor Show, Lexus product planning chief, Karl Schlich, rated the LF-LC’s chances of making to production as 50/50. “A decision has not been taken,” he said. “But we’re now up to a 50 per cent chance from a zero per cent. Every top Toyota Motor Company manager is aware of the great reception it has received and now we’re talking about how we can do it and fit it into the product plan.” Schlich added that dealers have gone crazy for it as well.
Schlich commented that if the proposal for such a dramatic Lexus production car had been presented to Toyota management without the concept, they would have dismissed it. Well, I believe Schlich is right in his observation, considering that Toyota is the company that brings you the conservatively-styled Corolla and Camry.
