Do you recall when you were a kid, your parents reward you for doing well in the examinations? You may not be so fortunate to receive a gift worth over S$1m but not Alonso. For his effort in winning a rainy 2012 Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix, Alonso was presented with a spanking new Ferrari FF.

Speaking at the Ferrari HQ after the race, he said, “It was nice to be back in Maranello after Sunday afternoon’s win. In the plane, I was thinking again about the race and I could hardly believe it. Then, once I’d arrived here, I saw the smiles on the faces of all our people and I was very pleased to see how strong is the desire to work to improve the car in the shortest time possible.”

Fernando Alonso has put a miserable winter behind him after his win at Malaysia. Prior to the victory, Ferrari hadn’t secured a grand prix win since the 2011 British Grand Prix last July, which is a 11 race gap. Perhaps for such reason, Ferrari decides to present the supercar to the two-time world champion. The FF adds to Alonso’s already impressive collection which include a custom 458 Italia, a Maserati GranTourismo Convertible, an Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari and a special edition Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

After his impressive performance, Alonso gets a few days of well-deserved rest at home before heading to Shanghai for the 2012 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix two weeks later. Congratulations!

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
