I guess the name of the RMB 6 billion (S$1.2 billion) company doesn’t sound appealing and hence recently, both companies made a recent announcement that their China JV will be re-named as Denza. Denza’s Chinese name is called 腾势 (Teng Shi), which means rising power and momentum.
The logo is apparently based on a water droplet held by a pair of hands, indicating that water is a previous resource. Hmm, the logo would not be out of place for PUB’s use as well.
Denza will launch the first concept car at the upcoming 2012 Beijing Auto Show with production planned in 2013. BYD CEO, Wang Chuan Fu, commented at the brand’s launch, ““Daimler has been visionaries in the development of sustainable mobility.
We are at the forefront in China as the first company to form a joint venture for the development of an all-electric vehicle, and we’re continuing our rapid pace forward with this landmark event today.” Currently, BYD’s flagship E6 model is one the world’s leading electric vehicles with an estimated range of 186 miles on a single charge.
