It looks like the Ferrari FF is not the only supercar that is susceptible to spontaneous combustion. In what is believed to be the first fire incident involving a Lamborghini Aventador, the raging bull caught fire on California Route 73 South past El Toro Rd near Newport Beach recently. The entire episode was filmed on how the fire department had the blaze under control.
The experts’ take on this incident is that it is not collision related. Videos and photos taken at the scene of the accident appear to confirm that no other vehicles were involved. Lamborghini commented that they are not sure of the cause of the fire but they are trying to figure out what happened.
Insurance for such supercars are pretty exorbitant. If these incidents become more common, the insurance cost might just go even higher. Powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine, the 690bhp Lamborghini goes from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 2.9 seconds. The driver of an Aventador had better be that fast in getting out of the car when it starts to burn by itself.
