Aston Martin sells off every single unit of One-77 supercar

With the current economy crisis many businesses are either folding or seeing red. As such it is rather surprising (and happy) to see exotic/luxury car maker Aston Martin handling the crisis pretty well.

So well that Aston’s revenues have increased by 7 percent, to $817.3-million, its highest since 2008. Aston Martin managed to make this profit by moving 4,200 vehicles in these 12-months, including all 77 units of the One-77 supercar at $1.93 (S$2.39) million apiece. At this price the One-77 becomes the second most expensive car in the world if I am not wrong, behind only the mighty Bugatti Veyron Super Sports.

The Aston might not possess a mind-blowing 1,200hp but it looks absolutely beautiful. The company first delivered its high performance flagship in January last year, featuring a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and a hand-crafted aluminum body.

Power was provided by a 7.3-litre V12 which developed 750hp and 750Nm of torque. It was connected to a six-speed transmission which enabled the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed over 354km/h.

Production of the V12 Zagato is at 150 units about twice the number allocated for the One-77 – with a sticker price of only S$663,350 (Compared to the One-77) – roughly half a million dollars, or a quarter the price of the One-77.

"The Aston Martin brand is stronger than ever. This is demonstrated by intense interest in the new V12 Zagato, recently shown at the Geneva Motor Show, and our $1.93-million One-77 supercar – all 77 of which are now sold." commented Aston Martin’s CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez.
