Thanks in part to the introduction of a new 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine and the continual popularity of the Fiesta, Fordís UK April sales gained 11.5% Year-on-Year. Ford beat the UK industry average of 3.3% gain by quite a fair bit according to the official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

"Fordís car range is maintaining its strong sales momentum through 2012, stretching our sales lead over our nearest rival and hitting a higher sales rate than the overall market,Ē commented Mark Ovenden, Ford of Britain managing director.

ďApart from the new 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine in Focus and the new Ford Ranger, we are looking forward to launching more exciting new products this year, including the Focus ST, the new Ford B-MAX, and the new Ford Transit," Ovenden added.

The Fiesta managed to retain its pole position on the sales chart in April with 8,780 orders. This represents 6.2% share of the total UK car market, up from 4.9% from its 6,755 sales in Apr 2012. Fordís best selling models in the UK for 2012 thus far are the Ka, Fiesta and Focus.

I have seen a number of new Ford Focus's on our roads recently. Together with a higher-powered 240hp Ford Mondeo that was introduced recently, I am confident that the Blue Oval brand might see sales increment in Singapore as well.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
