Thanks to a member of the Dutch Volvo Forum who managed to catch the production version of the upcoming Volvo XC40 undisguised, we are able to preview the brandís latest SUV prior to its presentation possible at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

Based on the V40, the model benefits from a raised ride height, an assortment of robust plastic cladding, prominent roof rails and perhaps either standard or optional all-wheel-drive system. It is basically a more macho version of the V40. Although a rear photo of the XC40 is unavailable, I guessed that it will not look very different from the V40ís rear end as shown above.

At the moment, there isnít any information on the engine range but we can safely assume that what is present on the V40 will be available on the XC40. This means that consumers can expect the petrol-powered 1.6L GTDI turbocharged units with 148 bhp or 177 bhp as well as the range-topping five cylinder 2.5L turbocharged T5 engine with 251 bhp. Diesel options may include the 2.0L turbodiesel power plant with either 175 bhp or 148 bhp.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
