The styling of the car was previewed by the IBE coupe concept that was displayed at the Paris Motor Show two years ago. The sportier FR trim is distinguished by modified front and rear bumpers, alloy wheels and FR badging on both the exterior and interior.
The Spanish hatchback has a sharp looking front fascia that comes with a pair Audi-inspired LED head lights. The rear brake lights benefit from LED technology as well and they certainly would not look out of place on a more expensive Audi. The “Leon” name is proudly displayed at the centre of the boot. Overall, the new car features an edgier design than the softer and more rounded outgoing model.
On the inside, the Mk3 Leon borrowed some parts from its higher end cousin, the Audi A3, with the most prominent part being the instrument panel. The dashboard has a clear and uncluttered layout that would not confuse a new driver. The FR model comes with a flat-bottomed steering wheel plus red trimmings all around.
No information has been released on the available power trains, but one can assume that they will be similar to those offered on the new A3 and the upcoming VW Golf Mk7.
