The Peugeot 208 GTi is rumoured to be available in two power outputs; a 154bhp variant and a 204bhp version. The latter may be called the GTi Racing and the car’s 0-100km/h timing will come in under seven seconds. However, this version will not be a track-focused performance car.
“We have to find our own niche, and one in which we can expect to sell a significant number of cars,” commented Peugeot UK’s managing director, Tim Zimmerman. “We want more emphasis on everyday usability, where we think we’ll find a larger audience.”
The Peugeot 208 GTi will use a six-speed manual transmission but an automatic manual option is in the plans as well. The car will sit on lowered suspension, a larger front grille, unique front and rear bumpers, a twin exhaust and sporty seats.
