With all the hype on the internet regarding the all-new 2013 VW Golf, Volkswagen had a media presentation in Germany to highlight the important features of the brand's vital new model.
Unfortunately, we are still unable to have a good gauge of how the new car will look like after the presentation as only the body structure was showed. But judging from the body structure, one can guess that the MK 7 will generally retain the shape of its predecessor.
Despite being larger and roomier than the outgoing model, the new Golf will shed about 100kg. In addition, VW says that fuel consumption and emissions are reduced by up to 23%. Hence, let’s hope that the new Golf will be "Cheaper (to run), better, faster".
The new Golf is densely populated with technology as it tries to pull away from the crowd of highly capable competitors. Some of the technological highlights include Speed Limiter, PreCrash, Fatigue Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control and Cylinder Deactivation.
The new Golf will be displayed during a special event in Berlin on 4 September with its public premiere at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. If you don’t mind buying an outgoing model, perhaps Volkswagen Centre Singapore may have a clearance sales of the MK 6 Golf towards the end of 2012 or early 2013, just like what it did for the pre-facelift Passat CC.
