After the introduction of the five-door hatchback and the Sportswagon estate versions of the Ceed range, Kia has released the official images of the final body style, the sporty three-door hatchback. Called the Pro_Cee’d, the car will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show come end of September.

On the styling front, the new Pro_Cee'd shares its face with the regular Cee'd, but gets its own unique design from the A-pillar onwards. The styling updates include a more sloping roofline, heavily pronounced rear fenders and a new set of tail lights.

At the front, there is a new fog lamp housing and chrome strips that connect the grille to the headlights. The styling differentiation from the regular five-door Ceed is subtle yet tasteful. Well done Kia!

There are no details on the engine lineup as of now but do expect the regular 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and CRDI options that is currently available on the five-door version. Expect the range-topping model to feature the 201bhp 1.6-litre GDI unit that is powering the Veloster turbo.

The Kia Ceed shares its platform with the Hyundai I30, a model which went on sale in Singapore recently. The previous generation Ceed was not offered in the Lion City but let’s keep our fingers crossed on this one.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
