Seat has revealed the 2013 Ibiza Cupra facelift in its fully glory. The model was previewed by the Ibiza Cupra Concept at this year’s Beijing Motor Show. The Ibiza is currently in its fourth generation, and the Cupra is the high performance variant.
Like its lesser brethren, the face-lifted Cupra gets a wider front grille, sharper-looking headlamps with LED technology as well as revised tail lights at the rear. The more powerful Cupra model however, gets a larger air intake at the front bumper as well as a checkered flag logo on the grille to show its sporting credentials. The blackened side mirrors, exclusive 17-inch alloys and centrally-mounted trapezoidal exhaust pipe complete the exterior update.
The interior of the Ibiza Cupra gets a new set of sport seats, an updated steering wheel with mounted paddle shift and a new info-entertainment system.
Power is still derived from the award-winning 178 bhp 1.4 litre ‘Twincharged’ engine that is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The pocket rocket sprints from 0 to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds, which is similar to its cousin, the VW Polo GTI. The Cupra comes with lowered suspension and an XDS differential lock for sportier handling.
The Ibiza is built upon the VW Group PQ25 platform which is shared with the Mk 5 Polo and the Audi A1.
