If you are an automotive nut and are visiting the United States in the near future, then read on. There is an automotive museum in Los Angeles, United States known as the Petersen Automotive Museum.

It is one of the world's largest automotive museums in the world. Spanning over 300,000 square feet, the museum holds more than 150 vehicles at any one time.

The museum has another 300 plus vehicles in an on-site storage and these vehicles are waiting for a chance to be exhibited. Most of the exhibitions held there change frequently every three to seven months and individually exhibited vehicles and smaller exhibitions change more frequently.

In the near future, there will be several special exhibitions and one of them is the 'Corvette 60th anniversary' exhibition. There will be a display of twenty historic Corvettes from all model generations and also Corvette concept models. This special exhibition will run from February 27th to March 31st 2013.

Another upcoming special event is the 'Aerodynamics: From Art to Science' exhibition. The showcase will present visitors with an overview of the landmarks of aerodynamic design over the past century. There will be over a dozen vehicles exhibited and it will run from June 16th to May 27th 2013.

An interesting feature of the museum is an underground vault where many of the museum's rare treasures are kept. Initially, the public were not allowed to visit the underground vault. But recently, the museum held guided public tours there during the 2012 December holidays.

After overwhelming popularity of the guided public tours, the museum has extended these tours indefinitely. That means the public will get a chance to see some of the rare vehicles the museum has.

  • Is 'tiny living' really irrelevant in Singapore?

    I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post.
