Gullwing America is well known for turning modern cars into retro-based rides. The car you see here is known as the Gullwing America 300 SLC and it is based on a 1950s Mercedes Benz 300 SC (second image from top).
Previously, the company has built a Mercedes Benz 300 SL and a Ferrari 340M/C and both are based on the SLS AMG underpinnings. But this time round, the roadster version was used for their new creation.
Arturo Alonso, owner of Gullwing America, mentioned that they have kept the lines of the original car as they see it as a timeless design. Many changes were made on the car’s body.
The extendible rear spoiler has to be repositioned and LEDs were included in the headlights cluster. The front grille received one of the most changes and it had to be fitted slightly slanted.
21 inch tyres were fitted to the front while the rear gets 22 inch tyres. A custom exhaust system had to be built due to the extra modifications done and an adjustable suspension completes the modification list.
The Gullwing America was made under the request of a customer from Eastern Europe with a limited 92 units to see production.
