These are the first spy shots of the new Subaru WRX which is likely to go on sale later this year as a 2014 model.
According to Autoblog and WorldCarFans.com, this is the next generation WRX STI Ė well the production prototype at least.
Though the vehicle is covered is camo, the Jaguar inspired grille and the overall shape from the concept that was revealed weeks ago at the New York Auto Show
is pretty evident in this scoop shots. But sadly it looks a lot more - normal.
The car looks taller and dare I say, tamer compared to the concept and bears a more evolution than revolution styling to the current generation's design.
The massive rear wing - which is quite similar to the 2013 WRX STI - suggests this could be the more hardcore STI model. The rear diffuser looks less busy too, though the quad pipes and rims look pretty much the same to the concept that was presented earlier this month.
It is expected to be powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre boxer engine and donít be surprised if there is a turbocharger in there for an output of around 305bhp.
Naturally the Scooby will be offered with the trademark symmetrical all-wheel drive system and the usual sedan and hatchback body styles.
