And Mercedes is possibly the first one with a solution - a flared 'megaphone' exhaust. Sadly, early reports indicate that the new exhaust does not make much of a difference to the volume of the engine.

I still remember in the 90's,my friend's Yamaha TZR125,also put a so called "Trumpet' inside the exhausts to improve the sound & performance..

F1 uses a straight through exhaust system. Unlike road cars which have catalytic converter and noise mufflers. The F1 exhaust is already at its loudest.

Bernie Ecclestone says he was "horrified" by the noise produced by the new Formula 1 engines, or to be more precise the lack of it. They don't, he says, "sound like racing cars".

  • Is 'tiny living' really irrelevant in Singapore?

    I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post.
