Singapore ranks 6th in terms of road quality

By Faiming_low on 23 Jun 2015 in Other News

Attached Image According to a survey conducted by the World Economic Forum, Singapore has the one of the best network of tarmac in the world. We were 6th out of 30 countries. Rated from a scale of one to seven, with seven being the best, our score puts us on par with Netherlands and better than Hong Kong, Japan and Switzerland.

Surprisingly, we are ahead of other countries that were thought to have better maintained roads such as Germany and Finland. But then again, we did not we expect Austria and France to have better roads than us. One reason could be due to the fact that the assessments were based off a survey and not a systematic study - leaving plenty of subjective opinions to influence the outcome.

First goes to the United Arab Emirates with a score of 6.6 while our neighbours up north scored 5.6 which gave them a ranking of 19th.

Since young, Fai Ming has always centered his life around cars. In fact his first word was 'car' and not 'mum' or 'dad'. Aren't kids cute?

Absolutely -
Singapore's roads are remarkably good - particularly in the separation of pedestrians from the road (all those annoying green fences that stop me from Jay-Walking) and also in the way they keep opposing directions of traffic apart - stupid road dividers that make me do too many u-turns.

Where I think they have the biggest problem is in poor slip road planning on expressways -

Singapore has good roads, but they are largely used by selfish and self centered drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians.

I dunno man, my main gripe is the oft-tearing up of the road and rough patch up jobs. Guess it is ok for those cars with very soft suspensions and SUVs but for harder sprung cars, its a bitch.

And who did they survey? Most Singaporeans have only SG and Malaysia to compare to. Many have to driven in Germany or Japan or Taiwan or UK or Mongolia have they?
