Volvo spoils your kid with XC90 Child Seat Concept

By Deeq on 08 Jul 2015 in New model, New technology

Attached Image We thought we were looking at the top of the line when we watched Volvo unveil the new XC90 in Sweden. But it turns out the company was just getting started. The XC90 Excellence followed in Shanghai, joined by the even more pampering Lounge Console Concept. And now the Scandinavian automaker is showcasing another variation on the theme with the version you see here.

This one's called the Child Seat Concept, and in case you couldn't tell from the name, it's focused on spoiling your baby. In place of the front passenger seat (or the foot rest assembly on the Lounge concept), Volvo has fitted a whole assembly catered toward infants and toddlers.

The seat is replaced by a raised platform that holds the child seat, which swivels towards the door to make it easier to get a child in and out of the vehicle. Underneath that platform is plenty of storage space for diapers, blankets, and what have you, with room for a tote bag in what would otherwise be the front footwell.

Of course, this is just a concept for the time being, and we can hardly imagine many people ordering up a new luxury crossover specifically to transport their baby around. But if Volvo were to, say, develop a front seat that folded forward to incorporate the best elements of the Lounge Console and Child Seat concepts, it could make itself even more of a favorite among wealthy suburbanites.
