When the latest BMW 5 series dropped its cover in recent months, everyone was raving about how it looks much better than the previous model, how its better equipped, more fuel efficient and the list goes on. However, that's just the beginning. Because this is what the new 3 series will probably look like, and I must say, it looks pretty good.

Underneath the bold, masculine lines along the side panels and that aggressive looking hood which kind of reminds me of the previous 5 series, lies a whole range of new engines and more efficient 3 cylinder units. The cabin even has integrated wifi! This is set to be the most advanced 3 series BMW has ever built. So as you can see, the new stuff in the 5 series wasn't just a flash in the pan, BMW are set to revamp their interior equipment on the smaller model as well.

In terms of the way it looks, its a whole lot better than the previous model which was rather 'safe' and boring due to the sheer extent of criticism that the 5 series had to take, the 3 series suffered in terms of style. However, the new model doesn't look shy or conservative. It looks bold and sharp, especially with those enlarged kidney grilles.

Under the bonnet, making its debut will be a 1.5l three cylinder petrol engine boosted with turbo chargers and its going to produce roughly 150bhp which is rather remarkable for an engine of that capacity. There will also be stop-start energy recuperation thanks to BMW's EfficientDynamics system which will save fuel and keep our wallets heavier for longer.

What I really like the most about this new 3 Series is the integrated Wifi system. This allows the driver to have up to the minute traffic information from the internet, which will save time by avoiding traffic jams and the usual congestion's that plague most Singaporean motorists. The new BMW will be released early 2011.

So will the new BMW 3 Series be a winner? I have absolutely no doubt about it.

looks definitely more iconic than the current 3-series, but still not a fan of the new BMW styling, especially the F10 5-series....

  • Is 'tiny living' really irrelevant in Singapore?

I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post. But as we know, it isn't an option to begin with – no thanks, of course, to our lack of land space.  Someone also pointed out that the idea of tiny houses is "romanticised" – which, I don't deny (but hey, that's why it's a dream). While it's clear tiny houses aren't going to work out here, the concept of 'tiny living' is; not just physically but also mentally. Anyone who has lived enough years lo
