Abarth transforms Fiat 124 into a rally car

blogentry-133713-0-03140700-1456970833_thumb.jpgAbarth presented a prototype rally variant of the newly unveiled 124 spider model at the Geneva Motor Show as it confirms its return to motorsports with Fiat 40 years later.

 

blogentry-133713-0-78602200-1456970837_thumb.jpgPowered by a 1.8-litre "bialbero" turbocharged direct injection engine, it has an output of 295bhp and is paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox. A limited slip differential is present has been added too and to further assist the car go and stop even faster, the soft top was swapped for a fixed composite hard top. In doing so, the car's weight distribution has been shifted to become a little rear biased while gaining a lower center of gravity.

 

To make sure it meets FIA R-GT category, the car has undergone structural reinforcements and a gets a safety roll cage too.
