Not even the sleek and clean-cut car manufacturers, Audi, can escape being laughed at. Their consistent minimalist advertising campaign took a plunge for the worst when they decided to go a little mad. And this is what happened.

To build up some hype before their launch of the new Mini-rival, the A1, Audi decided to do something rather extreme. They took the A1 and drove it up and down a specially constructed half pipe in the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels to showcase the car's superior maneuverability and sense of humour (though I personally don't think any Audi has a sense of humour, they all look too serious and much more like a uniform for businessmen). Well, the good news is that Audi finally has got a laugh from the public while their quest for perfection has stopped short in their minor accident, which was rather embarrassing for them as the car rolled over while going up the half pipe. The over enthusiastic driver and a passenger were quickly freed from the car and luckily no one was hurt.

I think if anything this is one of the best publicity stunts Audi could ever hope for. The car wasn't damaged, no one was hurt, everyone just has a laugh for their ridiculousness. Maybe, they got their madness from their Italian counterparts...Lamborghini.

First Volvo, now Audi... is this a conspiracy to get more publicity?

  • Carpark Review: Junction 8

Built in the 1980s, Bishan (or Bishan New Town) may not be one of the earliest housing estates in Singapore, but it was the first whose HDB architecture saw a departure from the more brutalist designs of the past and featured more variation in height and design.  Residents are primarily served by Junction 8, which opened in 1993. Now more than 30 years old, it remains the sole mall in the Bishan East area. Driving there? Here’s our quick review of the carpark.  Manoeuvrability: T
