New Jersey Dealership being sued by Indian national for not selling GLS to him

By Faiming_low on 11 Aug 2016 in Other blogs

Attached Image A New Jersey luxury car dealership is being sued by a United States resident and Indian national because it refused a Mercedes-Benz GLS sale. According to Record Online, Prestige Motors is being sued for S$1.69 million by Surjeet Bassi because the dealership's manager expressed concerns that Bassi would export the SUV to the Taliban.

In the article, Bassi was said to have reached a deal, passed a credit check and was charged a S$1340 downpayment before he was called into the manager's office to be told that he can't buy the car. The reason was because Bassi lived in a suspicious part of town which is known to house resideent who export their cars to the Taliban.

Even though Bassi tried signing a document that he wouldn't export the car, the dealership still refused to sell him the GLS 500 large SUV.

While the real reason behind the refusal of the sale is unknown, Bassi's attorney, Michael Sussman, claims that this is one of the latest case where racial discrimination against immigrants is on the rise.

Since young, Fai Ming has always centered his life around cars. In fact his first word was 'car' and not 'mum' or 'dad'. Aren't kids cute?

Paraphrasing from a Jalopnik comment (clever guys there), "He should tell the dealership to go OFAC themselves." :D
