2011 VW Passat leaks out

The folks over at Auto Express have managed to get their hands on a leaked photo of the next generation Volkswagen Passat. The car is set to debut at this year's Paris Motor Show and so far the German manufacturer has been quiet about exactly what we can expect from the mid-sized fighter.

From the leaked photo, it looks like the company will be giving the Passat a dose of familial styling. A rectangular chrome-laced grille replaces the black plastic of the current generation. The headlights looks like enlarged version of those found on the Golf. Judging from the above photo, its shouts one word – BORING! Put it next to the new Kia Optima or Hyundai I45, the new passat looks really conservative.

The car is said to wear slightly more aggressive body work all over, including aggressively arched fenders, but it doesn’t seem to be the case from the photo. Details on the powerplants are still scarce at the moment, but we can expect the usual TSI and DSG combinations. For potential passat buyers who are waiting for the all new model, you may consider the current model when VW Singapore is clearing the existing stock before the new model arrive. Because the new model may not be worth waiting for after all.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
