Koenigsegg Says The One:1 is a 6:40 min car on the 'Ring

By Faiming_low on 10 Mar 2017 in Super cars, Other News

Attached Image With the hype recently on Lamborghini's Huracan Performante blistering 6:52 minute Nurburgring timing, Koenigsegg was quick to point out that its One:1 is even faster.

Christian von Koenigsegg, the boss of Koenigsegg told Top Gear that during practice runs at the ‘Ring, the One:1 was already lapping under the seven-minute mark. However, the record run was disrupted by an ABS failure and the car crashed eventually.

“When we were doing the One:1 practice runs, we were already under seven minutes. Really. And that was a leisurely run. Everyone who drove the car said ‘if we really push and hang our balls out, this is a 6min 40sec car’. Then we had the stupid ABS failure, and we never got to prove it. The practice laps weren’t even done on full power – we limited the car to 900bhp, which is 460bhp short. But that’s only worth 3-4 seconds on the lap,” he revealed.

The article went on to say that the company will attempt to set a production car lap record again some time in the future. It expects the car to lap the circuit in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. However, the attempt will depend on whether they can find a car to do so as their only prototype has also been sold to a customer.

Since young, Fai Ming has always centered his life around cars. In fact his first word was 'car' and not 'mum' or 'dad'. Aren't kids cute?

What does it tells you about the philosophy of the company.... "we had the stupid ABS failure". Instead of re-assuring their customers that everything on-board the car is top quality, we have some stupid arrogant comment.

Long live Hyundai.

I think the comment from Still2016 shows a profound lack of knowledge of what Koenigsegg is all about coupled with a very clear disdain of super/hyper-cars and not a little arrogance of his own.

If Still2016 had followed Christian K's career as a boutique hypercar maker, he might have had a different opinion. Then maybe he would've had some respect for Christian's commitment. But I kinda doubt that.

You see, this is not the first time Still2016 has made disparaging comments about exotic cars in general. He seems to completely miss their point. He seems to be more interested in "green" motoring and bread and butter cars. Which is fine, since MCF is about all sorts of cars, and not just exotics. Even if it is rather odd that a supposed car enthusiast (which I would expect to be MCF's main demographic) would hold such negative views about representatives of the pinnacle of motoring performance.

But it does leave me wondering: why can't people who have nothing good to say just hold their peace?

I don't know how one can come to a conclusion of my not only lack but profound lack of knowledge of what Koenigsegg is all about. Lets simply put, I have recently met the guy in  person through a mutual friend from Zurich.

"But it does leave me wondering: why can't people who have nothing good to say just hold their peace?"

One has to be consistent. It should not be just for cars but politics too. The world thrives and goes round because we all may have different opinions. We don't have to agree but we can certainly agree to disagree. It would be good too keep it that way and be merry about it.

Good for you, meeting him. Now did you tell him he's prone to making "stupid, arrogant comment(s)" in person. Or did you act all cordial? Because if it were the latter, that would make you quite the hypocrite.

I don't believe in saying one thing about someone under the cloak of faceless anonymity and another to their face. But that's just me.

In any case, why did you arrange a meeting with him if you don't exactly appreciate what he makes or says? Now I'm really intrigued.

I am sorry, I don't believe any living person on this earth, is not a hypocrite at one time or another.

Sometime ago, I had a meal with a prominent orthopaedic surgeon, he reminiscent about the old times, where young doctors would nod in agreement during ward rounds but once he left the ward, that would be another story. He had a good laugh. I am very sure you would never stoop to such thing.

Assumption is the mother of all misunderstanding.
