Tesla delivers record number of vehicles in first quarter
The electric car maker has just announced that it has delivered a record number of vehicles in the first quarter of 2017. In these three months, the company shifted a significant 69 per cent increase over the same period last year.
Out of the total number of vehicles, the Model S accounted for 13,450 units while the remainder were made up of its SUV, the Model X. It added that 4,650 units weren't added in the total number as the cars are still being transported to its owners and will only be included in the second quarter results.
While the numbers sound impressive, the company is still far off from what its CEO Elon Musk intends to achieve. As a matter of fact, when Model 3 production reaches full capacity in 2018, Musk wants Tesla wants to build at least 500,000 vehicles next year.
