As a matter of fact, back in 2015, the country has already imposed a ban on black cars. However it only applied to imported cars. Now, its president, Gurbanguly Berdimukhamedov has reportedly banned all black cars from the country's capital of Ashgabat.
Apparently, some owners, whose existing car is black, have already found their cars missing as many have towed away to police impound lots. To retrieve their cars, they must sign a document agreeing to repaint their vehicles in a lighter colour. Weirdly, there is a point system whereby the lighter the colour you choose, the more points you score. White is the most preferred colour and it is known to be the president's favorite colour.
Meanwhile, spray painting prices have naturally gone up in the country and for those that are wondering, tinted windows have also been banned since 2014.
