FIA approves Tesla Model S racing series

blogentry-133713-0-64509600-1517910055_thumb.jpgThe electric GT racing series has finally gotten the approval from FIA for its all-Tesla racing series after it was initially announced two years ago.

 

According to The Verge, the racing series could start as soon as this year and will see heavily worked-on Tesla P100D sedans with around 778bhp racing around in well-known circuits. However, exact locations, drivers, and championship schedule have not yet been decided.

 

blogentry-133713-0-74074800-1517910058_thumb.jpgWith the race-ready Model S sedans recently passing official crash tests, more teams should be signing up soon. Only one team has reportedly signed on at the moment.

 

Rumors have been spreading online that the race weekend will consist of three-heat qualifying rounds and two 60km long races. It is also rumored that the series will have accompanying series in the form of electric kart championships and drifting competitions.
