The makers of Awesomely Mega and Grunty Mercedes Benzes, AMG, have fitted the already mad C63 with the AMG Performance Pack as standard to the C63 DR520. The Performance Pack includes AMG’s high-performance braking system with red calipers, with the addition of engine upgrades in the form of forged pistons, newly-developed connecting rods and a revised crankshaft, as well as an AMG Carbon Fibre rear spoiler for the sedan.
The DR520 is made available with a black or white matt wrap (as is most performance cars nowadays) and it is complimented by titanium finished alloy wheels, grille and discreet DR 520 badging on the wing and the boot lid. According to the press release, the DR 520 combines stealthy looks with potent performance, which I somehow doubt since the C63 is full of wide arches and now badges everywhere as well as a matt finish that actually stands out more than it actually blends into a background.
As for the interior, the sports seats have been upholstered in leather and alcantara with red or white contrast stitching. The trimming is extended to the dashboard and upper door panels. The multi-function AMG Performance steering wheel is clad in that soft Nappa leather and alcantara.
Now as for performance figures, the engine mods stated above have increased the power to 520 hp and 650 Nm of torque, a 60 hp and 50 Nm advantage over than the standard C 63 AMG. The DR 520 Sedan can reach 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds with the Estate achieving the same in 4.2 seconds. This has made this mental Merc even more mad. And I totally like it.
The DR 520 costs £9,995 above the standard C 63 AMG price, making the DR 520 Saloon £62,430 OTR and the Estate £63,680 OTR. The cars are also backed by a three-year, 60,000 mileage warranty. It is a shame this car is limited to a 20 unit run as this could be what all C63 owners want; which is a C63 that is as powerful (and now even more powerful) as a E63 or a CLS63. This is as the C63 is sold with that 6.2 liter engine in a slightly detuned form compared to its bigger brothers.
