HAMANN announces first bolt on accessories for the Mercedes SLS

I recently posted about Hamann going ballistic on the looks of the F10 BMW 5 series. Basically Hamann had gone through great lengths in trying to make that car look very aggressive. It had also tried its best, and failed, with the 5series Grand Turismo too (although it wasn't at fault as the car itself looks like a illegitimate child of a 7series, a X6 and with the DNA from a Rover SD1). The latest Hamann Motorsport release is not a BMW, but a Mercedes. The SLS to be precise.

This time they have only released a few performance/upgrade parts for the already mad and at the same time fabulous SLS. The most noticeable upgrade featured is the HAMANN alloy rims called the 'Design Edition Race “Anodized”'. These are 21 inch rims that are 9inches up front and 11inches at the rear. The tires recommended for the rims are 245/30 ZR21 front and 295/25 ZR21 at the rear. According to Hamann, these are cross spoked, matt black anodized rims that are lightweight, stable and strong as well as being corrosion resistant. They cost a mouth watering 10,500Euro. Which is affordable if you can afford the SLS in the first place.

The rest of the parts include a sports suspension kit which helps in the corners and the looks. This is as the SLS will sit about 30mm lower than the standard SLS. It basically makes the already low SLS lower. Not something I'd really like if I were touring in one to Malaysia and up to Cameron Highlands. Up Genting would be okay as the roads are pretty smooth up there.

The final mod part offered by Hamann is the stainless steel exhaust system. It basically brings out the V8 rumble even more. Something I would want as while any AMG engine already sounds like a Messerschmidt passing by, any extra bit of aural pleasure is a very good thing when it comes to the sound of any AMG built engine.

No prices have been announced for the suspension and exhaust upgrades as yet. Very normal, I suppose
