Mcchip-DKR is one of those firms that specialize in tuning the factory ECU in order to increase the performance of a vehicle. They tune cars and trucks too, and have been around since 2002 beginning as DKR tuning and then in 2009 merging with MCchip. They also have a dealer located in Singapore, which means that whatever information stated in here will be made available through their Singapore based dealer for Golf R (and to a certain extent Golf GTI) owners here in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
Now, the specifications of the tuning upgrade. Mcchip-DKR has tweaked the ECU allowing a 17% jump in horsepower. The Golf R now makes 311bhp(315ps) and a really massive 440Nm of torque. This 26% gain is very impressive and is still within the tolerance of the Golf R’s gearbox. As the Golf R is All-wheel drive, torque is pretty necessary for it to smoothly get off the line during traffic light encounters with other drivers. What’s good is that it only costs 899Euros for the ECU work. I wonder how much of the price would change when the upgrade is offered here in South East Asia.
The demonstrator car pictured here also has the lowered H&R springs meant for the Golf R, and very expensive (at 3,190Euros) OZ Ultraleggera 19inch wheels which are 8inches wide and run on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.
