The Cruze loses its boot

Confirming the recent rumours that have been circulating on the internet, General Motors has released the first images and details of the 5-door Chevrolet Cruze hatchback. The show car will be officially unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show on the last day of September.

Although billed as a show car, the production version should not have many changes to the exterior design. The model is described to feature a coupe-like roofline to enhance the overall sporty appearance and it is built on a new body-frame integral system (BFI) which results in greater stability and solidarity. Expect GMs 1.4L Turbo power plant to find its way into the hoot of the new hatchback.

The Chevrolet Cruze hatchback show car has a cargo capacity of nearly 400 liters and will feature 60/40 split rear seating. GM currently intends to launch the vehicle across Europe in mid-2011. I guess it will hit the Singapore shore before end of 2011. It could very well give its cousin, the Opel Astra, a good run for its money here.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
