What used to be boring, 'plasticky' and just plain old fashioned has now become simple, modern and relevant to our day and age. Ford has finally woken up and decided that their dashboards needed a makeover and they chose the most practical thing in our lives to model after; a mobile phone.

As we all know, mobile phones are designed with the user in mind, making it as user friendly as possible. Iphone's are the exception where it is really almost idiot proof, but for the other manufacturers like Nokia or Samsung, their catching up as well. Ford's dash is finally looking up with the advice from Ideo, the maker of Apple's first mouse, which has solidified the standard layout that all Ford vehicles will be based upon. Inspired by the Ipod generation and remote controls for TV, this is what they have come up with:

"One is the five-point controller - four directional arrows with a central button - on the steering wheel. Used on many electronic gadgets, it had roots in the points of the compass. Five-point controllers on the steering wheel are easily operated with the thumb, which lets drivers keep their eyes on the road.

A central eight-inch screen is organized around four corners and four colors: yellow-orange for the phone, green for navigation, blue for climate control and red for entertainment. There are, mercifully, large knobs for volume and fan speed."

It seems all very organized, modern and concise. In all honesty its a good move by Ford to finally live in the 21st Century...

While it's clear tiny houses aren't going to work out here, the concept of 'tiny living' is; not just physically but also mentally. Anyone who has lived enough years lo
