The latest news about the Toyota-Subaru co-developed FT-86 is that it will be sold as Scion FR-S with a 2.5-litre Subaru 4-cylinder boxer engine powering the rear wheels instead of the 2.0-litre engine in other markets. The production model Scion FR-S is said to be scheduled for the 2011 New York Auto Show.
The FT-86 measures 4,160mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,260mm tall, with a 2,570mm wheelbase and rides on 19-inch wheels shod with 225/40R19 tyres.Hmmm I like this Flash Red colour and I hope that the production line-up will have this as a stock colour!
Toyota's President Akio Toyoda previously said that Toyota "desperately needed an excitement injection" and the first dose was supposed to be this Toyota FT-86 Concept (FT = Future Toyota and inspired by the Corolla-based AE86 sports coupe of the '80s).
Sorry about the quality of the photos here; the reflection from the glass kinda dented the true beauty of the car. It's a pretty car and eye-catching I must say; however, for some reason the Toyota badge just isn't 'cool'.. if you know what I mean ;)
