Skoda Motorsport swept the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) clean by winning both the Manufacturers’ championship and the Drivers’ title. The Czech car maker’s team took part in 11 of this year’s 12 IRC events and won seven of them.

To celebrate this achievement, Skoda has unveiled a special edition Fabia RS. Decked out in racing livery, the car features rally green paint, a white roof, 17-inch alloy wheels and stickers from the S2000 rally car. Power is provided by a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 177bhp and 250Nm of torque. It is connected to a 7-speed DSG transmission, which enables the RS to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 224 km/h.

The production of this special edition Fabia RS will be limited t0 just 200 units. Details of pricing and availability is not known at the moment.

I have been a car fanatic since 1989, when my father was changing our family car then to a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL fitted with a Twin Cam 16 valve engine that was carburetor-fed, a big deal back in those days. The automobile technology and industry fascinates me and I hope to broadcast these interesting developments to everyone out there through this blog.
