Volvo Cars and Uber join forces to develop autonomous driving cars

By Deeq on 10 Sep 2016 in New technology, Concept cars, Safety

Attached Image The two companies have signed an agreement to establish a joint project that will develop new base vehicles that will be able to incorporate the latest developments in AD technologies, up to and including fully autonomous driverless cars. The base vehicles will be manufactured by Volvo Cars and then purchased from Volvo by Uber. Volvo Cars and Uber are contributing a combined USD 300M to the project.

Both Uber and Volvo will use the same base vehicle for the next stage of their own autonomous car strategies. This will involve Uber adding its own self-developed autonomous driving systems to the Volvo base vehicle. Volvo will use the same base vehicle for the next stage of its own autonomous car strategy, which will involve fully autonomous driving.

Kahn Designís Defender-Based 6x6 going for $434,300

By Deeq on 12 Aug 2015 in New model, Concept cars

Attached Image Fresh from its debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show, Kahn Design’s insane Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6x6 based on the iconic Land Rover Defender is now up for sale, and the very first example, marked the “Prototype Mission 1”, is going for £199,875 (approximately SGD$433,267). That’s significantly less than what you had to pay for Mercedes-AMG’s G63 6x6, yet Kahn Design’s own six-wheeler is no less dramatic.

The evolution of...Tuk-tuks...

By Deeq on 16 Jun 2015 in Hybrid/electric cars, Concept cars

Attached Image Tuk-tuks might be everyday, ubiquitous transportation in Thailand or Phnom Penh, but can these tiny three-wheeled taxis also find a place in sprawling, car-obsessed cities like Singapore?

A design student has reimagined a sleek, electric, app-connected version of the vehicle, called the Lindo, that could give city dwellers a new option for public transportation. The system is designed to be more flexible than taking a bus or train stuck on a fixed route, and more sustainable than riding in a full-sized taxi or Uber car.

Set to be based on the Evoque Coupe, Land Rover will bill the Evoque convertible as an alternative to premium German drop-tops like the Audi TT. However, the Evoque convertible is expected to remain a low-volume niche model designed primarily to boost Land Rover's image.

That's 183 more ponies than the stock model.

By Deeq on 06 Dec 2014 in Concept cars, Other blogs

Attached Image Russian tractor builder ZIL has created this strange concept of a futuristic Humvee-style army personnel carrier.

The as yet unnamed machine looks completely unlike any military vehicles we've previously seen around the world, with a shallow sloping roof making the front end look like that of a large aircraft. The bodywork looks purposeful and aggressive with an amazing oversized grille, and you can see the working chassis underneath the bodywork.

Top 10 most expensive cars auctioned.

By Deeq on 28 Aug 2014 in Concept cars, Super cars, Other blogs

Attached Image It is believed the most expensive car ever sold was sold for $52,000,000. However, this cannot be confirmed because it was sold in a private deal. The only way to completely confirm the price of a sale is to have the sale take place in a public auction. There are a number of auction houses around the world that specialize in the sale of extremely rare and extremely valuable cars. They often hold very exclusive events in order to sell these particular automobiles.

These are the top ten most expensive cars ever sold at a public auction house which must report their sales to a governing body for taxation purposes. This is the only way to know exactly how much money exchanged hands.
