The official auction house of Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the Gooding & Company, announced a special auction item. While the car is not unique or extraordinary, the owner’s name attached might raise a few eyebrows.

Gooding & Company presented Academy Award-winner and philanthropist George Clooney's 2008 Tesla "Signature 100" Roadster during its Auction on the 19th August. The 0008 numbered car was purchased on invitation by Mr. Clooney when Tesla debuted the world's first high-performance sports car EV.

The proceeds from the auction will benefit the Satellite Sentinel Project (SSP). Co-founded by Clooney and human rights activist John Prendergast, the SSP is a not-for-profit organization that uses satellites to monitor the borders of Sudan to prevent a full-scale civil war between the Northern and Southern parts of Sudan.

Tesla made history back in 2008 when it launched the world's first high-performance electric sports car. Clocking a mileage of only 1,700 miles, car 0008, is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic with a premium, two-tone leather interior. The Tesla's estimate is $100,000–$125,000.

"We are overjoyed to present George Clooney's Signature 100 Tesla at Pebble Beach because this is an incredible opportunity to purchase a modern collector car with all the right elements: one-owner, celebrity provenance; historical significance; limited-edition rarity and philanthropic ties," says President and Founder David Gooding.

"We admire and respect Mr. Clooney's talent and dedication to making a difference in our international community, and hope his fantastic car will attract great support for the Satellite Sentinel Project and recognition of the lives his work saves every day," adds Mr.Gooding
