BRABUS has revealed its exclusive tuning program for the second generation Mercedes CLS-Class. Making its world debut at the Geneva Motorshow, the wind tunnel tested kit features a front spoiler mounted to the OE front bumper, restyled air vent with fitted LED daytime running and sport fenders with side gills. The rear end gets a spoiler and a custom fitted lower rear bumper apron to accommodate the four tailpipes of the BRABUS sport exhaust system. The rear update is rounded out with a centrally mounted reflector.
BBC China is to make its own version of Top Gear, the BBC's hugely successful car show. According to UK newspaper the Daily Telegraph, the programme’s content is likely to be toned down, as its blend of outrageous stunts and politically incorrect humour will be too controversial to pass China's censors.
Cao Yunjin, a popular Beijing comedian who will be one of the three hosts of the Chinese version, told state media that he believed the antics of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, the hosts of Top Gear, are too extreme for Chinese censorship requirement.
The Ferrari California is a V8 powered Ferrari that isn't that extrovert in its looks and was built for a different sort of market compared to its other V8 powered sibling, the 458 Italia. This is one that feels at home puttering around at slower speeds, around Orchard Road, the Marina area, the Cote D'Azur, Beverly Hills and other happy shopping/pleasure/leisure zones. In fact it looks more Maserati than Ferrari. Especially its stance and posture – if a car can be said to have a posture. Some would say a Ferrari needs to be angry, very angry.
Most of you readers out there know about the BMW X6. BMW's crossover vehicle that is essentially a hatchback on stilts. Or if your imagination is as warped as mine the X6 is actually a Proton Gen 2 photoshopped to 1.5times larger with a different grille and larger wheels for that crossover look. Anyway, BMW is now offering it as a five seater instead of the usual four. The rear seats is now a normal looking bench instead of individual rear seats.
The Audi R8 Spyder won the MotorWeek 2011 Drivers' Choice Award for the ‘Best Dream Machine’. In its 30th year, the annual MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards look at vehicles from a buyer's point of view to judge the best new cars and trucks of the year. As a winner of a 2011 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award, the Audi R8 Spyder will be featured in an upcoming episode of MotorWeek.
The 2011 Geneva Motor Show will mark the return of the Cabriolet nameplate to the Golf range after an almost decade-long hiatus. Based on the underpinnings of the latest generation Golf hatchback, the two-door four-seater features a soft top with an electro-hydraulic drive that can be raised or lowered in only 9.5 seconds. The process can also be performed during driving at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
It's confirmed, the season opener for the FIA Formula 1 that was scheduled for Bahrain in March has been cancelled. The very sensible and logical decision was made by the Crown Prince of Bahrain, Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who incidently is the rights owner of the race. Bahrain has been on the F1 race calendar for the last seven or so years and as far as I can remember, there has never been a cancellation on an F1 event over the last 25 years. It could be more, but I was a little kid then and Hot Wheels were the only cars I was interested in.
